Google Helps Me Cook

I am fairly well versed in the Googlesphere. I use it all day every day in my profession, Google offers me a way to find answers and even leads me to some questions I didn’t know I should be asking. This morning I was searching for recipes with turmeric and found something amazing; even to me.

Google has a great tool built right in to the basic search engine that helps you with ingredients and recipes.

You can easily search on several criteria for the recipe you are trying to find. Meal size, how many servings, when you are eating, how long you have to make it, and even how much protein you need in your meal; all of those are just a drop-down away from easily making it into your search.

I happened to have bought some nice turmeric yesterday in the spice aisle of my local grocer and wondered how exactly I should go about preparing a meal utilizing it. I am a huge fan of Indian cuisine and knowing that turmeric is an asset in any curry I thought I might have a go at it.

I initially just ran a typical Google search: cooking with turmeric, and was then surprised to see an option at the top of my results page.

I suppose I shouldn’t really be surprised, I knew already that Google was all about the results page, but I had not yet explored some of the more friendly ways they were trying to get me the all important data faster and easier.  At the very real risk of sounding like a Google Evangelist I wanted to write this post just to show you that even for someone who uses the Internet constantly, there is always something else out there to make you smile.

I know, the headline was a little misleading, I mean Google didn’t actually show up at my house and help me cook lunch for the kids; but how long until the GoogleBot 4000 does just that?  Or more to the point how long until Google stops only searching the internet and starts searching the world with actual people to record everyday events and happenings?  Hey, it could happen.

One final note for the day: Any one want to offer me their favorite Indian recipe?
